Actually, it require less to run this OS(Operating System). Here are some proof showing that this OS can be installed and run in lower spec computer/laptop.
1. Windows 7 - 266MHz & 64 MB RAM

Totally can run but not useable since booting takes a lot of time and opening a program takes minutes.
Windows 7 consume about 12Gb of your Hard disk after install. If you want to experience Windows 7 on your old PC, get the windows 7 Lite version which only takes 2Gb of your hard disk.
So, how low can you go with Microsoft Windows 7?
I would say (according to the video) :-
90MHz with 512Mb of RAM, 266MHz with 64Mb of RAM.......
Lowest spec would be Pentium II 266MHz with 256/512 Mb of RAM?
